Learning ExtJS

I’m currently reviewing the upcoming book, Learning ExtJS 4, by Packt Publishing. This book should be out by Q1 2013.

One of my favorite things about ExtJS is the fact that Sencha has a large team of developers and contributors who make rapid improvements to the framework. On the other hand, it is more difficult to find ExtJS developers than it is to find jQuery developers.

If you’re a Sencha developer, or someone looking for an extremely robust Javascript framework for your web application, you should at least be aware of what ExtJS has to offer: http://www.sencha.com/products/extjs/

It’s not the right solution for everyone, but it is very powerful, mature, and has a nice out-of-the-box theme. The theming in ExtJS 4 supports SASS and Compass, which make it worlds easier to make global changes to the default look and feel, with no worries about cross-browser compatibility – it takes care of those issues for you, down to IE6!
